Welcome from the team

Welcome from the team

On behalf of everyone at RaceSpot, I would like to Welcome you to RaceSpot News, our new service providing the very latest reporting from the world of Sim Racing. I hope to explain a little bit more in this editorial about how why we’ve chosen to start this service, our aims and objectives, and how we will ensure that you the reader get the very best experience whilst exploring our reporting.

As we enter our 10th year in the Sim Racing industry, we thought it would be a good idea to expand our offerings even further, to ensure that we can cover as much Sim Racing news as possible, regardless of if we are broadcasting / covering the event ourselves. We strongly believe that this is a pivotal time for the industry, and want to be at the forefront of helping Sim Racing as an Esport grow ever further. We’ve already proven that we are at the top of the pack in terms of broadcasting, production, commentary and originality, and these traits we want to bring to RaceSpot News. This isn’t a simple copy-paste news click farm to gain revenue, but instead a platform to drill into the minutia that places drivers ahead of others on track, and one that celebrates all the forms of online Esports racing that currently exist.

Every time a new news website crops up, be it in Esports, Motorsports or general affairs, there is always discussion as to how impartial the service can be, and if it leans or favours specific groups over others. Indeed there are other Sim Racing news sites run by large companies in the background whom may favour articles about certain series or platforms, as they also have investment in these areas. We believe that this only serves to diminish the variety of online racing that takes place on a day to day basis, and hinders the overall growth of Sim Racing as a recognised Esport globally. After thinking long and hard about how we can better serve the Sim Racing community, we’ve decided to include the following core concepts into all of our work:

  1. We will not promote / demote any content based upon a platform / series that an article pertains to. Instead we will judge every story on its own value and merit, regardless of where it comes from.

  2. We will do our utmost to ensure that anyone working or publishing work on this site leaves any team / platform / series allegiances at the door. We will ensure that we report impartially on any driver / team based upon their performances and actions in that specific race / series, and will not pander to populism in the Sim Racing community. If it needs to be said, it will be said. If it’s irrelevant or deliberately targeting individuals, it won’t.

  3. We will research and fact check anything before we post it. When we make mistakes, we will be open and upfront, and will use these to better inform our reporting and editing procedures moving forward.

  4. We will be up-front and forthcoming in our opinions and reporting where we have them, and won’t brush information under the carpet to protect drivers / teams / series. Everyone gets treated the same in good and bad.

  5. We will have fun in our work, be individual and vibrant in our reporting, to provide meaningful, engaging content to you the readers.

Naturally, there are some events where we will dedicate more coverage than others. We will take our experiences in producing live reporting of Sim Racing events and enhance this further as a part of RaceSpot News. There may be some series who pay to have their races reported on either live / post-facto, but we will follow the same editorial procedures outlined above. In the event that we are able to secure interviews with drivers, team managers, content developers or platform employees, we will ensure that we question down the line, using these opportunities to enhance understanding of practices, approaches, team and driver development and more, instead of just being a piece of self-promotion.

Over the coming months, we aim to add more specialised content to this site, allowing for more ‘off the cuff’ discussion and opinion in the form of editorials, columns and podcasts. We have so many ideas, but would rather ease into providing more content instead of over-exerting ourselves to early… Afterall, this is one of the main reasons why so many companies fail! If you have any suggestions about what we should cover, or topics you would like us to delve into further, please don’t hesitate to contact us, and we will do our utmost to add it to our ever-growing list of projects that will someday come to fruition.

Finally, we promise to keep this site free to access. Paywalls suck, and even though we do have to pay the bills, we believe that accessible content is more important than subscriptions for the sake of being able to read a few articles.

Sim Racing news by RaceSpot… Who would have thought eh? We look forward to being your new home for the very best news from across Esports racing, and if you like what we do, please feel free to share the love: Our advertising budget is practically zero!

Peace and Love
